Texas Rangers Golf Course Places Second for Renovation of the Year

The City of Arlington's Texas Rangers Golf Club was named second by Golf Inc. Magazine for Renovation of the Year! The former Chester Ditto Golf Course originally opened in 1982 and was in need of a makeover to compete with newer courses in the area. Golf Course Architect, Colligan Golf Design, redesigned the course in a way that would keep the city's maintenance costs low. Wider fairways and larger greens allow for more pin placements which reduces the wear of the course. A more efficient irrigation system also helps control maintenance costs. As a result of the renovation, the course has become more profitable and is more popular with local golfers.

"This renovation is more like a total redo. The entire course is unrecognizable and the renovation is absolutely worth every penny. Great work by a congruent team that seems to have accomplished the impossible. Kudos to all."

REES designed the course's new clubhouse and maintenance facility. The new 30,000-square-foot country-style clubhouse to enhance the beautiful new golf course. The clubhouse includes a vibrant 150-seat sports bar and restaurant, a pro shop and banquet space to accommodate over 200 guests. The complex also includes a cart storage basement, an on-course restroom and a maintenance complex to support course operations. The former maintenance facility's floodplain and uneven elevation created a challenge for the client, so we included concrete ramps and an elevated foundation in the design. The maintenance facility is expected to be completed this Summer and the clubhouse this Fall.
