Hearts & Hammers: Celebrating 25 Years of Giving Back to Dallas

Hearts and Hammers 2018

This year marked the 25th year REES employees, families and friends have volunteered with the Hearts and Hammers organization. Hearts & Hammers is a non-profit organization that refurbishes homes owned by disabled and low income citizens in Dallas.

We were assigned a home in a West Dallas neighborhood and partnered with First Unitarian Church of Dallas. The home required repairs the owner is unable to perform due to health issues. Over two weeks, we pushed through and maneuvered around the puddle-filled lot to give this home needed TLC.

We cut overgrown brush and hauled off trash from the property. Rotted wood was removed from the home’s skirt panels. We aksi painted new wood panels, caulked in gaps and primed where needed. It was a privilege to celebrate 25 years of giving back in our very own community through Hearts and Hammers. We were priviledged to partner with the First Unitarian Church of Dallas. Thank you for all of your hard work and determination to give this home a new life. It was a privilege to celebrate 25 years of giving back in our very own community through Hearts and Hammers.
