FBI-LOUISVILLE ACHIEVES LEED SILVER CERTIFICATION
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s new Louisville Headquarters Building has achieved LEED Silver Certification!
The facility is REES’ fifth regional FBI building and is comprised of 120,000 square feet of office space in three stories. The design team worked diligently to balance General Security Administration requirements for anti-terrorism design with sustainable features, creating a facility that is equally beneficial for the environment and its occupants.
Selected sustainable features include:
- Low-flow and ultra low-flow water features, allowing the project to achieve a potable water savings of 40.9% over EPAct levels;
- Recycled-content, locally manufactured, and low- or no-VOC materials used for the building envelope and interiors;
- Alternative transportation amenities, including bicycle storage, shower facilities, and preferred parking for carpools and low-emitting vehicles;
- Diversion of waste from landfills through a stringent construction waste management process.
