BENEFITS OF BIM REALIZED ON OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY FLAGSHIP PROJECT
Widely regarded as the future of A/E/C technology, Building Information Modeling (BIM) utilizes an integrated 5D modeling process and provides distinct advantages to designers, engineers, contractors, and owners.
Under a traditional BIM delivery, the modeling process is implemented from the commencement of project design. However, as exemplified by the experience of the team of REES (REES), Cannon Design, and Flintco Construction on the Henry Bellmon Research Center, the benefits of BIM can be realized even when BIM is implemented late in the process.
Ultimately, BIM implementation on the Bellmon Center resulted in significant cost and schedule savings for Oklahoma State University, and contributed to the University’s decision to utilize BIM on all subsequent campus construction projects.
