Midwest City Conference Center

Midwest City, Oklahoma

This new conference center acts as an “anchor” for the local community by providing state-of-the art technology for conferences, exhibits and communications events.

The 60,000-square-foot Reed Center includes offices and two large exhibit halls with smaller, adjacent conference rooms. The flexibility of the spaces encourages gatherings that begin in the state-of-the-art great room and then break up into smaller rooms for more intimate discussions.

The development of the site is in harmony with the large balconies and terraces of the building. The building has been planned to take advantage of cascading ponds and canopied seating areas, as well as for visibility from the nearby interstate highway.

Part of the financing for this building was provided by federal funds after Midwest City was declared a disaster area following tornado destruction in 1999. Consequently, the ground level of the building, within the large exhibit hall, is composed of a hardened structure to meet design guidelines for a storm shelter. Wall, door and door design all should withstand another such event.
