Anadolu Medical Center

Suburban Istanbul, Turkey

The Urban Land Institute has announced nine finalists out of 27 projects for the 2006 Awards for Excellence: Europe Competition in Milan, Italy. The awards are widely recognized as the land use industry’s most prestigious recognition program.

The Anadolu Medical Center, Affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine provides visitors, patients and staff a pleasing environment for the provision of high-standard medical care.

The master plan for Anadolu Healthcare Village includes all of the support facilities to serve the health village. The village is comprised of a six-level medical center, a 200-bed acute-care hospital, medical office space, medical related retail and central plant facilities to serve the initial phase and the long-term master planned community.

As a center of excellence in Cardiology and Oncology, the Anadolu Healthcare Village is located near the soon-to-open Istanbul International Airport. Anadolu is envisioned as a major international medical center, serving particularly the Eastern European countries as well as the oil-rich Middle East.

The entire medical center master plan exceeds one million square feet of facilities within a 50-acre trac. It is positioned at the top of a hill with carefully appointed private rooms overlooking the panoramic views of the sea. The site, located in Gebze, is a beautiful open area overlooking the Sea of Marmara. Bordered by a protected woodland on the east, an experimental olive tree orchard on the west and an open land leading to the sea on the south, the site is easily accessible to the E5 motorway.
