The new KHQ-TV facility provides the latest state-of-the-art digital broadcast technology with flexibility for future technological advancement.
The REES project team designed the facility to create a significant architectural statement, visible within the downtown Spokane community while being sensitive to its historic neighborhood setting. The team carefully integrated color palette and use of materials, along with significant architectural features of the 100-foot microwave tower and rooftop satellite dishes, into the design. The two-story newsroom is the central focus of the internal planning and design. Flexibility was achieved by combining news studio production space and newsroom space, creating several venue options for news production. The 68,000-square-foot facility provides flexibility for the future through built-in expansion space and open office planning. Easy space reconfiguration through the use of extensive access flooring will accommodate future technology.
