The design of the new Mary Nell and Ralph B. Rogers Telecommunications Center addresses the current and future demands of providing quality programming and community activities.
This two-story, 62,400-square-foot facility houses KERA-TV/Radio and KDTN-TV. The stations serve one of the largest geographic areas in the nation and provide educational, news and public affairs programming. The stations also serve the needs of the community by distributing instructional television to classrooms throughout North, East and West Texas, as well as college credit telecourses to households.
The building design accommodates the increased need for space and equipment. The complex conforms to the linear site and incorporates two existing buildings. In addition, nine live oaks on the new site were saved and relocated.
