The design of the new multichannel facility has positioned South Carolina Educational Television as one of the nation's leading educational broadcast complexes by expanding its capabilities in educational TV / distance learning.
The 145,000-square-foot complex is a result of expansion and renovation of two existing facilities that replaced the 23 different buildings on SC-ETV's former site. The facility design enhances staff communication by collocating spaces based on functional relationships. In addition, the design increases public access for visitors without compromising production and security. Integration of building and hardware maximize flexibility and accommodate future changes in broadcast technology into the digital age.
Also included are five radio stations, a 150-seat teleconferencing center and four distance-learning studios.
Future plans include a 300- to 500-seat performing arts television studio.
