A comfortable, friendly atmosphere was imperative in the design of the new facility that represents the Center for Creative Media as the leader in multi-media research and communications.
The 57,094 square foot facility follows an open-layout format that allows for interactive working relationships between departments and within departments.
In designing the Center for Creative Media, staff and building security was a major concern. While the planning had to be operationally efficient, the Center also desired interior circulation patterns cognizant of providing a logical tour route that would not disturb work. Key functional areas, including control rooms, studios and edit bays, had to be of adequate size to accommodate the student and visitor observation.
The Center for Creative Media follows a technologically advanced design while reflecting the architectural character of the existing building on the University of Alabama’s campus. The new facility is planned so that the Center for Creative Media can respond to technological changes as they occur.
