The Equitable Building in downtown Atlanta has been a recognizable part of the city’s skyline since it opened in 1969. REES was engaged to renovate all public spaces in the building and update the property with a fresh interior image.
New design standards for all retail tenants were created and new “typical floor” design standards were created and will be implemented over several years until all 32 tenant floors are updated. The design for the main public spaces occurring on three floors includes re-design and/or augmentation of existing conditions and introduction of new design features, including two new granite reception / security desks, state-of-the-art electronic building directories, updated ceiling and lighting designs, new leather covered furnishings in the classic Modernist style, custom granite planters and the installation of six custom light sculptures, each more than 23 feet tall stretching from the main Peachtree Street lobby to the mezzanine “sky lobby’ above. The renovation is scheduled to be completed in Spring, 2003.
