The 1447 Peachtree Street project in Atlanta is a ten-story, 1960s building that underwent a renovation in the 1990s. In 2007, the new owners, Day Capital, along with Lincoln Property Company, hired Rees/Atlanta to renovate and reposition the building.
Re-named Silhouette, the building is located in the arts district of Midtown Atlanta, just down Peachtree Street from the High Museum of Art. Maximizing a limited budget, the design references the urban arts district in which it resides, as well as the small gallery-like Museum of Contemporary Art located just off the main lobby. The renovation included addition of lighted gateways supporting a glass canopy leading to the building entry, along with a new fountain element and landscaping. The building lobby and all tenant floor lobbies, corridors and bathrooms were renovated and include custom digital wall covering that reinforces the Silhouette concept. The addition of bold Silhouette images on the face of the building has been recently covered by both the Atlanta Journal and Constitution and by CNN International as a point of interest focusing on the Cuban-immigrant mural painter who implemented the Rees design.
