The $70 million Oklahoma State University Henry Bellmon Center provides cutting edge, flexible laboratory space and enables interdisciplinary research among the physical and biological sciences.
It will not only help to attract and retain outstanding faculty members to Oklahoma State University, but will also be a “signature” building for the OSU campus, sending the message that research is a top priority area for OSU’s future.
The facility, consisting of 125,000 new square feet and 30,000 renovated square feet, is Phase I of a three-phase research complex that will form a science zone as envisioned in the school’s campus master plan. The finished building will be a mixture of unassigned and occupied lab space. Thematic areas will be defined for the new labs, including spaces for synthetic chemistry, biodiversity, biotechnology, sensors, photonics, and biophysics. The new, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities will establish an environment of interdisciplinary scholarship in the physical and biological sciences.
“The design of a complex science building requires close cooperation between the scientist users and the architects. Working with the REES Cannon team has been tremendous. Their involvement in the details of the project, working closely with OSU scientists, has been a wonderful example of close teamwork
with all of the team members having the same goal in mind. The experience has been very satisfying.”
-Stephen McKeever, Vice President of Research and Technology Transfer, Oklahoma State University
