Northern Oklahoma College

Tonkawa, Oklahoma

The new Northern Oklahoma College 580-seat auditorium serves the campus' diverse needs. Completion of Phase II will place the music and performing arts program under one roof.

Rees Associates took the traditional "shoebox" auditorium and innovatively introduced bold forms that complement the strong structural form of the building. The major campus addition will become the new focus of the historic campus.

Phase II involves the addition of support spaces, including a large bandroom and a large choir room, as well as eight practice areas for voice and instruments along with classroom and office space. The Phase II addition completes the vision of the college president to house the college's strong music and performing arts program in a facility tailored to their needs.

Carefully shaped wall and ceiling elements were designed to enhance the listening environment.
