Mercy Cancer Resourse Center

The Cancer Resource Center is an approximately 7,000 square foot renovation of an existing outpatient rehabilitation services department. Located on the first floor of an existing seven story active acute care hospital, the Cancer Resource Center is prominently located adjacent to one of the facility’s main entrances.

The solution was to create a non-institutional setting for people recently diagnosed and undergoing cancer treatments. The open and free flowing floor plan helps reinforce the concept of easy access to Mercy staff as well as promote cross educational opportunities for families. Included in the renovation is a library learning center, consultation rooms, a community and training center, and administration and staff work areas and offices. Of special importance is the respite area where families can wait in a “non waiting room” type of hospital setting.
