This project was designed as part of an overall hospital master planning process that included concepts for a new Senior Living Village and facade upgrade for the entire facility.
The Emergency Department and ICU addition had to be carefully designed to work within the context of the existing building and enable the projects to be phased without disrupting current flows to and from the ED. The current ED and ICU will remain in operation throughout construction.
The project was designed to scale up from three to seven floors over time. In the Emergency Department, the ambulance entry has been separated from the public entry for safety and to maximize department efficiency. The Emergency Department is designed for Level II Trauma status. The ICU located on the second floor will maximize patient access to daylighting and views. The design of the new ICU focuses on improving staff working conditions, integration of the family within the ICU environment and improving patient outcomes.
This project will be constructed to meet LEED Certification using daylighting and views, native landscape materials, local and recycled building materials and reduced energy and water consumption.
“I would recommend REES without hesitation. They have become a vital member of our team. REES has taken the time to listen and learn about our organization and future plans. They work collaboratively with us and that is why we and our projects are successful.”
— James A. McComas, Vice President of Operations, Promise Regional Medical Center
