For the 19,000 square foot Saint Clare’s Maternity Renovation, REES converted semi-private med/surgery rooms into private post partum rooms with an emphasis on the hospitality look of an upscale hotel. Amenities for the 27-bed post partum unit include a sofa/daybed for fathers that is 7 feet long to accommodate taller people, hardwired blow dryers in the patients’ bathrooms, med gases hidden behind artwork that easily slides out of the way when gases are needed, Internet connections for visitor’s computers, an additional phone line for visitors’ needs and upscale finishes.
REES located the 27-bed well baby nursery and the six-bed NICU adjacent to each other with the nurse station for staff cross-training and support.
