The new Hereford Regional Medical Center will be located adjacent to the new 60,000 s.f. Medical Office building and will be connected by an enclosed walk for both patients and staff.

The design of the hospital allows the client to close off the non-patient areas of the hospital during the evening, resulting in reduced staffing demands and energy consumption costs.

The main planning concept was to utilize the central nursing station / staff area to supervise the Emergency Department, Nursing Unit, Surgery and Outpatient Imaging. This allowed the departments to be located so as to minimize walking distances and reduce staffing counts during non-peak times.

Accommodations for family and visitors reinforce the concept of a healing environment that is non-institutional by using standard materials in a cost effective manner.
