REES provided architectural and engineering services for a new 120-bed, 41,494 square-foot county detention facility, consisting of three levels. Adjacent to the county courthouse, the building includes law enforcement administrative areas.
The assignment included accommodating a planned expansion of 100 beds with no impact on existing operations or security, on a small site and with a limited construction budget. Rees was also challenged to blend the new architecture with the old historic courthouse and more contemporary county office building.
