Tier II - Redundancy lasting 40 hours for essential business - Progressive Collapse and Federal Government Security Measures
The three-story 102,000 square foot FBI Office Building includes office space, a gym, a break room and conference areas. The facility also features a two-story, 144-space secure parking garage and is more secure than the previous headquarters located in downtown Albuquerque.
After the September 11 attacks and the Oklahoma City bombing, there is a heightened awareness for security around governmental buildings. The FBI followed new safety guidelines in their plans, such as a minimum 100-ft. perimeter from parking. They also placed boulders up to 30 tons along fencing and restricted areas surrounding the building.
The design of the new headquarters reflects the surrounding New Mexico environment and culture.
The building was named the Southwest Contractor Best of 2004 Editor’s Choice.
