Tier II - Redundancy lasting 40 hours for essential business Progressive Collapse and Federal Government Security Measures
The FBI Salt Lake City headquarters building is designed to possess a contemporary design with its use of precast panels and tinted glazing units. The design style is consistent with other structures in the Salt Lake City International Center area as well as other new facilities.
The exterior four story glass curtain wall frames a large floating canopy and glass enclosed vestibule. Inside, the large Public Lobby, with upgraded finishes, leads to a secure interior with elevator lobby and stairwell, the focal point of the building. It includes a public lobby, executive offices, conference room and employee lounge, gym and patio. In addition to the main building, the project includes a 197 parking space parking garage.
Security features include a visitor screening facility with unobstructed views of all vehicles entering the site. Entrance to the site is restricted by two K12 rated 12 foot wide vehicle barriers. In addition, the site has emergency systems in place in the event of power failures, progressive collapse and lightning, fire and smoke issues.
The entire project has been designed to achieve a Silver LEED rating from the United States Green Building Council.
