University Place Retirement Center was designed to provide quality housing and services for Houston’s aging population as an alternative to premature admission to a nursing home.

The original phase of University Place Retirement Center is a 186-unit senior living community designed to accommodate an active senior lifestyle. Located on a 10-acre site, University Place is situated between Memorial Care System’s flagship hospital, Memorial Southwest Hospital, and the adjoining campus of Houston Baptist University. The University provides educational opportunities to the residents by offering courses geared to the interests of senior adults. The location also offers interaction with the younger, more traditional student population. Should failing health make a hospital visit necessary, Memorial Care’s Southwest Hospital is within 100 yards of University Place. In addition, physician’s offices are within walking distance of the facility. University Place is designed to allow an expansion of 160 additional units.
