The Fountains at La Cholla – Desert Hacienda

The assisted living and Alzheimer’s care expansion of the independent living community blend into the architecture of the Tucson area. The repositioning results in a full service Continuing Care Retirement Community.

The slope of the site creates a unique split-level design for Desert Hacienda Assisted Living Residence. Alzheimer’s care homes are adjacent to the assisted living center.

The expansion and repositioning includes three buildings — one assisted living and two Alzheimer’s care. A two-story skilled nursing facility is included in the master plan as well. The stucco-faced buildings visually link to the indigenous architecture of the area. The use of tile and the character of the windows and doors result in a pleasant residential setting for the residents.

The range of living units in the assisted living residence includes living units of various sizes and shapes, as well as several variations of one- and two-bedroom units. Balconies are included on many of the units. Due to the natural slope of the land, the building is viewed as three stories on the north side and four levels on the south.

Phase I of the project also includes two 16-bed Alzheimer’s homes, which are placed in a secure garden setting. A third Alzheimer’s care home and several villas are planned for Phase II.
