Medium-Security Design for Mack H. Alford Correctional Center

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections retained REES to provide planning and architectural services for a 28,000-square-foot secure and effective facility. Mack H. Alford Correctional Center is a 100-cell, medium-security detention facility based on a unit management mode of operation. All daily living support functions are incorporated into the facility. The main administration and support areas are centralized between two modular pods of 50 cells each. Each housing pod functions independent of the other and is designed for maximum group control and visual security. The dayroom is the focus of each division and modular cells are designed with the basic necessities for daily living. The central visitation facility provides an area for family and inmates to meet.
